Bluebills Downwind is just that - a flock of Bluebills flying by the decoys, being helped along by a strong tail wind. Their speed approaches 80 mph under these conditions, and the sensation of their velocity is heightened by their closeness to the ground. (Duck hunters often miss this particular shot.)
Bluebills Downwind 6 1/2" X 21" $55

Eichman versus the Bambi Syndrome suggests two extreme points of view in regards to the maintenance of our wildlife. The answer is, hopefully, lodged somewhere between these two diverse philosophies.
Eichman versus the Bambi Syndrome 15"X 23" $75

Eclipse came about after having witnessed a total eclipse of the sun while on a fishing trip During the darkest part of the phenomenon, the birds became very quiet, some actually assumed a roosting posture. It was a very dramatic experience.
Eclipse 6 1/2" X 11" $30

Kailua Bay Ballet portrays the graceful movement of the sea and some of its creatures as orchestrated by the tides and the seasons.
Kailua Bay Ballet 20" X 32" $90

First Flock North is a print that reminds me of the first sound or sight of the northward migration. It is always a very stirring and rather melancholy experience for me and one to which many romantics have responded throughout the ages.
First Flock North 19" X 20" $75

Lunar Calendar records a day in the life and death existence in the wilderness. It is a night of the full moon in a month of 28 days. This struggle for survival is harsh but not without its simple order, truth, and natural beauty. Lunar Calendar 21 1/2" X 33" $80

Five Bull Cans is a happy group of dapper male canvasbacks. They are just out for a ride, cruising along in high spirits and having an enjoyable time.
Five Bull Cans 12" X 33" $80

Midnight Rams - Moonlight Exodus came about after observing this group of rams high in the Wrangell Mountains of Alaska. They came to feed only at night and slipped away in the moonlit shadows.
Midnight Rams Moonlight Exodus 20" X 32" $90

Micro-Genetic Computation is my perception of how a diagrammatic linkage of genes and chromosomes might appear. There are male and female forms, a gestation period, and new life encompassed in this work.
Micro-Genetic Computation Artist's proofs only 20" X 32" $90

Moonlight Descent depicts descending the mountain alone at night after completing a successful solo hunt. This image is about self-sufficiency, self-reliance, and self-confidence.
Moonlight Descent 19 1/2" X 32" $110

Midwinter Miracle is my reaction to the concept of life and its rejuvenation. It is not enough to understand chromosomes and genes and cellular structures. There is something greater and to me overwhelming in its complexity and conversely in its simplicity. It is life itself.
Midwinter Miracle 20" X 27 1/2" $150

Origins typifies the beginnings of the volcanic landforms. It portrays the magma pushing against the earth's crust to form new mountains and valleys on our ever-changing planet.
Origins 12" X 16" $50

Night Flight is a well-known occurrence for most serious duck hunters. After having completed an afternoon of hunting the hunter lingers to watch late flights of birds coming in to roost by the right of the moon. It is a moving experience, and the sound of their wing beats on a still night is long remembered.
Night Flight 7" X 20" $45

Prudhoe Profile is taken from the vast ice field north of Prudhoe Bay. To me it is an incredible and incomprehensible horizon line of ice and water. It is for this reason that I segmented it and spaced it apart to give the viewer some indication of how unending and unchanging it really is, To stand on this shore and view this northernmost seascape and the distant moon in outer space is to feel like a speck in the universe, at once terribly alone and yet part of this vast macrocosm.
Prudhoe Profile 21 1/2 X 33 1/2 $85

The Porch is a very personal work. The porch is, in fact the porch on my own "duck shack" or duck hunting cabin. The decoy used as a model was carved by my Great Uncle. The duck call was made by my Grandfather. The hat belonged to my Father. The shotgun was given to me in a will by a different Great Uncle. The boots are mine, however, I prefer to see this as my "roots" piece.
The Porch 12" X 33" $110

Spring Bear, a lone adult black bear, perhaps a boar, moves across the melting snowfields, traveling from thicket to thicket in search of spring's first tender grasses.
Spring Bear 10 1/2 X 18 1/2" $75

Quiet Village is how I would imagine myself as a Polar Bear on an ice chunk. Passively curious and quietly drifting by on the tide, smelling the village smells, listening for sounds, serenely watching this view pass before me, undetected by the people snug in their cabins. All of us, unafraid.
Quiet Village 20" X 28" $110

Susitna Flats Executive Session - Straight Flush Presiding brings together a group of ne'er-do-wells in a cabin in the swamp Their vocations forgotten, they meet for friendship's sake and the lure of ragged v's of geese and ducks viewed from a blind in the early morning mist.

Spring Ritual is a record of the recurring eternal triangle of the male birds vying for the same female, in this case typified by Canada Geese It is a ritual easily-viewed in the marshes each spring.

Walking Bear deals with an abstract idea about the circle of life, the four seasons of life, the path we take as we travel through our time on this planet. Walking Bear 21" X 33" $90

Vertebral Forms originated from observing part of an animal's skeletal structure, comprised of sun-bleached bones. The sun was setting into a velvet black night, giving the shapes a luminous quality.
